It’s all about Jesus!
When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.
Matthew 1:24
Joseph was profoundly touched by the birth of Jesus. As we all know, Joseph was the earthly father of Jesus.
There is very little chronicled in the Bible about this good man. Matthew 1:19 What we do know, reveals that he was a man of character and courage.
Can you imagine a man today who is so devoted to his fiancée?
Most men could never control their hurt and anger over suspected unfaithfulness. Most certainly would not want to protect her.
Most men would give in to their hurt pride. Understandable.
They may want to get even with her. That’s a natural, but sinful human response.
There would be very little hope of forgiveness and concern.
Who would blame any person for being unforgiving in a situation like this?
Well, as hard as it is to always understand, unforgiveness is still sin.
Like most people, Joseph didn’t intend to go through with the marriage. But he had no plans to dishonor Mary, no matter what. God put kindness and mercy in his heart.
Thankfully, Joseph wholly surrendered to God’s amazing plan.
Joseph, like Mary, was righteous, but not sinless.
He followed the law of Moses. He was devoted to waiting for the promised Messiah. His devotion was like that of other faithful Jews of the time.
By faith, Joseph believed the heavenly messenger’s announcement to him.
By faith in God, Joseph named his little son, Jesus.
He knew this was the Messiah, born to save His people from their sins.
Today, God asks no less from every person, than He asked of Joseph. He asks us to have faith and believe that Jesus is the Christ.
Jesus – the Savior for all who believe. Romans 10:9-10
I hope this Christmas finds you in a deep, close relationship with Jesus.
Share Him with your world, every chance you get.
Be devoted to the Savior who gave everything -for you.
Your faith is personal, but never private.
