“Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him.”
Matthew 2:2

Of all the witnesses to the life of the baby Jesus, the Magi are the most mysterious.
One of the sweetest interactions between God and these men, likely from Persia, is how the Creator revealed His Son to outsiders. These men, whom we assume were royalty (but the Scriptures don’t say that), were not even Hebrews.
The prophecy is fulfilled. “...a light to show truth to the Gentiles and bring glory to your people Israel.”
Luke 2:32
Think about the following questions.
- What do you suppose would make scholars from the east, look for Israel’s king?
- What would make them believe enough to trek hundreds of dangerous miles to validate their faith?
- What would make them even curious enough to read old prophesies?
- What would account for the joy in their hearts when their search brought them to behold the infant who became their own Savior?
- What would convince them that they were correct in their belief?
The Holy Spirit.
Only the Spirit of God in His kindness ever draws mankind to Him.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
