Elect and Predestined or Can just anyone be saved? Take the challenge below.
The Holy Spirit led me to pay attention to Romans 4. I had never thought about predestination in regards to this story. Let’s see if anyone knows the lesson that I learned.
Here is the verse that caught my attention:
Romans 11:4 But how does God answer him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
Here is my question for you:
Did the 7,000 men refuse to worship the pagan god, Baal, because they were godly men? Tell me what you think and why. I bet some of you Bible scholars know the answer!
The quick answer is found somewhere on this page. But I hope you will read Romans 11. You may also refer to the Got Questions link below.
Before you start reading God’s Word, ask the Holy Spirit for help. He is our Teacher.

1 Kings 19 Verse 18 is the Old Testament prophecy referred to in Romans 11:4
SPOILER!!!
By the way, in case you have not found the answer…
The 7, 000 men were not saved because they were not idol worshippers. The 7,000 men did not bow to idols because they were saved by God, chosen and elect. If you are a true believer then you heard the drawing of the Holy Spirit, responded and were saved. In that sense, you are part of the chosen and elect. You always had a choice. God always foreknew.
Romans 11:33 & 36 Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out! For of him, and through him, and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
