More!
2 Thessalonians 3:5 May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance.

There are believers who love Jesus with all of their heart, soul, and mind even in the darkness of life.
They often find themselves stuck in a repetitive cycle of loss or illness.
They never take their eyes off Jesus and draw strength from His resources.
Believers who commit wholly to Christ, understand that walking closely with the Savior is not a promise of ease.
Sometimes, believers struggle to pray or read God’s Word on gloomy days.
His love always draws the faithful ones back. He does that tenderly and patiently.
Elizabeth Payson Prentiss grew up in a lovely home and was raised in a faith filled environment.
Elizabeth and her husband served God throughout their lives together.
She had a talent for writing children’s and adult’s books that are available, even today.
Her tragic life story is rich and inspiring. I’ve included the link below for you to read more about her.
I am going to tell you about the events that led to her writing the hymn, More Love to Thee.

Elizabeth had chronic insomnia and severe headaches. This led to depression.
During this time, she lost her 4-year-old son, while dealing with a difficult pregnancy. She finally gave birth to a little daughter, whom she never saw.
The baby died while Elizabeth fought to recover from the birth.
Despite her struggles with illness and depression, Elizabeth shared her feelings with God.
She openly expressed her need.
She honestly confronted her sorrow and then wrote this song.
More Love to Thee oh Christ!
More Love to Thee!
This is my humble cry, on bended knee.
This all my prayer shall be.
More love to Thee, Oh Christ.
More love to Thee
Do you see what she did? She loved her Savior More! She did that by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Loving her Savior, who knew all about suffering, was her comfort. She didn’t deny her sorrow or rail at God in anger.
She loved Him more.
And she would eventually use that love to help hurting women in her world.
Lord, let me love You like that.
May every believer find, that adoring You is our peace while we live in this dark world.
