Beginning this coming Saturday, October 5, I want to introduce you to a new, two or three-minute weekly Bible study from Seed Basket Devotional.
Psalm 119.
Yes, this is the longest Psalm in the Bible with 176 verses. But we are taking it one step at a time.
The devotional for this Psalm will only take you about two or three minutes to read.
Since this is our introduction to Psalm 119, I just wanted to take a few extra moments to introduce this great chapter in God’s Word, by way of its sister passage, Psalm 19. Yep, that’s 19, not a misprint.
Take a look.
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:7-9
Psalm 119 covers 8 different themes found throughout God’s Word. And most of them are found in this Psalm, the 19th.
These two Psalms cover the law, testimonies, statutes, commandments, judgments, precepts, ordinances, and word.
Psalm 119 is essential for believers because it helps navigate the Christian life and defines many attributes of God, shaping our lives accordingly.
Implementing Psalm 119 can lead to displaying the Fruits of the Spirit, such as joy, peace, and goodness. To review the Fruits of the Spirit, follow the link above.
I hope you will take the time to go through this rich journey with me. I hope it will impact you in a way that will draw you back throughout the rest of your life.
You may want to do your own more in-depth study of particular sections. You may want to try to memorize it, or develop your own lesson plans if you teach Sunday School. Think outside the box.
Just never stray from scripture.
Our journey begins next Saturday, but you can start today by reading the first eight verses and identifying any of the eight terms about God’s law. Psalm 119
Also, do you see the attributes of God? Love leading to salvation, wisdom, holiness, truth, and much more.
