gods of stone
People don’t worship stone gods anymore.
Do they?
…But you have not glorified the God who holds your life-breath in his hand
and who controls the whole course of your life.
Daniel 5:23

In context, this passage from the book of Daniel is a conversation between the prophet and King Belshazzar, King of Babylon.
Have you ever heard the story of the handwriting on the wall? It’s a gripping story and worth reading because it really happened. Daniel 5
Here is part of the accusation that Daniel read against the king.
Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of the heavens.
The vessels from His house were brought to you,
and as you and your nobles, wives, and concubines drank wine from them,
you praised the gods made of silver and gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone,
which do not see or hear or understand.
Daniel 5:23
We think because we don’t bend our knee to a statue that we are not guilty of worshiping other gods. Even people who profess Christ as their Savior honor other things before God.
How do you start your day? Where is God in your daily day?
You don’t need me to cite examples of what could possibly be considered an idol. You and the Holy Spirit can deal with this. He will help.
God loves you. He wants a relationship with you. But He won’t share His place with lifeless idols.
If you love God and have simply lost your way, re-commit.
If you don’t know God seek Him. He loves you and is seeking you.
