I have kept my feet from every evil way, that I might observe your word.
Psalm 119:101 (WEB)
Scripture reading for today, Psalm 119:97-104
Have you ever heard people say things like, “My kids didn’t come with an instruction manual”? That’s usually something parents say when they refer to the difficulties of child rearing.
But people who follow God’s moral law have the spiritual and practical guidance they need to raise children, pick a career, choose a mate and simply navigate life.
As we have made our way well past the halfway point in this Bible study, I think it is obvious that God did not leave us without the resources to make wise decisions and live rightly in the world.
True believers have the Holy Spirit living within us. If we stay faithful, we can be certain we are on the right track.
We must plug in by reading the Bible, praying, and seeking guidance from a trusted pastor or believer when we have questions. Always measure advice, books, blogs, or sermons by God’s Word.
Just take a look at our key verse. Are we intentionally keeping off of every evil path? What does that really mean?
Even simple choices that don’t seem truly evil, can lead to the wrong footpath for a believer. If a pathway deviates from God’s plan for your life, you may be leaving the door open for sin.
We often make poor choices when we listen to the world’s advice. God’s Word helps us see the difference between the world’s self-centered wisdom and God’s steadfast law.
Choosing to follow God’s teachings keeps us on the right path. It’s not always simple but our Spirit will help. Here are just a few examples of how we need to live. Micah 6:8; Galatians 5:22-23; Matthew 5-7; Matthew 22:36-40, Exodus 20, and more. These truths in the Bible can help us find inspiration to live God’s way.
How I love your instruction
It is my meditation all day long.
