Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105 (WEB)
Scripture reading for today, Psalm 119:105-112
If we look within ourselves, all we see is confusion.
Focusing on the world is suffocating darkness.
But God’s grace brings light to the believer’s path.
This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5 (WEB)
Though the Light is bright enough to shine on our way, it never shines ahead to the next day. We walk by faith.
I have sworn, and have confirmed it,
that I will obey your righteous ordinances.
Psalm 119:106 (WEB)
The Light of God’s kindness also keeps the glow from our shadowy past.
I am afflicted very much.
Revive me, Yahweh, according to your word.
Psalm 119:107 (WEB)
We mustn’t get stuck in the muddy bog of yesterday’s failures or even its joys.
My soul is continually in my hand,
yet I won’t forget your law.
Psalm 119:109 (WEB)
Fearfulness is no place for a believer to shine. That is a waste of our time.
We need to grow in the wisdom of God’s Word and by His Spirit. When we do, we can help other’s see the radiance of our Redeemer.
“…a Lamp for my feet…a Light for my path.”
I love our key verse. Don’t you?
It is the perfect complement to Jesus’ words for the searching soul, Nicodemus.
Remember?
John 3:16
Like Nicodemus, are you stuck in the shadows?
Step into the Light of the Savior. He is standing right there!
Jesus wants you to see His footprints. Only they can lead you safely Home.
I have set my heart –
to perform your statutes forever,
even to the end.
