Here is a link to last week’s series on Romans 8.
Seed Basket continues to our study together in Romans 8. Take a look at these verses that give us so much reassurance about our Savior’s love.
The Spirit of God helps believers know they are redeemed.
Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

God loves us deeply and wants us to be free from what binds us. The term “fearful slaves” in verse fifteen refers to being trapped by sin and death.
This verse shows that God has adopted us as His children, expressing His love as our caring Father. We can call Him Father tenderly and without fear, just like a child would with their dad. This assurance confirms in our hearts that we are saved.
Romans 8:15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.

In the very next verse, it’s almost like He is reiterating what He just said but look at the verse carefully. Verse sixteen is a reminder of how God conveys His thoughts to us. He has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God reassures us in our minds that we are safe in God.
Romans 8:16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

And in verse seventeen, we are reminded of the consequences of our faith. You know if you belong to Him. Because, as His own child, we share in a close personal relationship like that of God with His Son, Jesus. We fit right in!
And while we live on earth, another consequence may be suffering. Persecution for our faith is what connects to Jesus.
Also, this journey of being God’s children means that when we stand at the Bema, the Judgment Seat of Christ, God’s holiness will burn up every sin that we have committed since our salvation. That includes missed opportunities to share the Gospel and other failures. But we are in no danger of loss. Our inheritance with God and Christ are secure. Our salvation was won for us by our Redeemer.
Romans 8:17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.
