Establish my footsteps in your word. Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.
Psalm 119:133 (WEB)
Scripture reading for today, Psalm 119:129-135
Don’t you love to sit and talk with other believers about God? Our study of Psalm 119 has inspired that desire more in me.
This Psalm is a treasure trove of insights from God’s heart. Let’s be wholly committed to all of God’s Word, and not just the beautiful poetic sounding passages.
Loving God’s Word honors Him. Keeping His Word warns us from the pitfalls of sin. Why should we stay in a cage of apathy that harms us and robs our freedom in Christ?
Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore, my soul keeps them.
*The entrance of your words gives light. It gives understanding to the simple.
I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for your commandments.
Turn to me, and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.
Establish my footsteps in your word. Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.
Redeem me from the oppression of man, so I will observe your precepts.
*Make your face shine on your servant. Teach me your statutes.
Streams of tears run down my eyes, because they don’t observe your law.
Take a look at verses 130 & 135*. “The entrance of Your Word gives light.” and “Make Your face shine on Your servant.” Look at some of the passages I found that talk about God’s light.
2 Corinthians 4:6 1 John 1:5 John 8:12 John 1:5 1 Peter 2:9
God’s Light is never overcome by shadows.
