“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 5:3
Seed Basket’s one minute devotional for this week focuses on the Beatitudes.
Many people stereotype Christians as unhappy, serious individuals who lack joy. They are often seen as rigid rule followers who can’t enjoy life and who criticize others for their sin. Hypocrites.
Some believers are immature and fall victim to those stereotypes. Then the Spirit helps them grow.
Some are thankful for knowing they fall short of God’s moral standard; otherwise, they would not know they were lost. These are the poor in Spirit, yet not always.
They are not stuck in depression or false guilt. They have peace with God.
They believe the Gospel. The wages of sin is our death and separation from God.
The poor in Spirit have seen the flip side. The Gift of God is eternal life!
So, turn from a sinful lifestyle and be joyful.

He has removed our sins
as far from us as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate
to those who fear him.
If you know you are a sinner, then you know there is a remedy.
But if you deny that you are a sinner, then you have rejected the remedy -Jesus.
