Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 (KJV)
What do you suppose is the meaning of meekness in our key verse for today? Do you think it means that believers are or should be cowardly?
Absolutely not! Cowardice is a sin. Cowardice can lead to lying, self-preservation, false pride and a host of other sins.
Look at the life of Jesus. His top priority was accomplishing the will of His Father. He did that without apology. Jesus had the power and authority to do anything else. But He laid aside His benefits as God, the Son, to become a suffering servant – and a victorious Savior.
Philippians 2:6-8 (KJV)
Behold the Lamb of God John 1:29 (KJV)

Every believer should have their mind and heart set on accomplishing God’s will for each day.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches every believer to be meek—not cowardly or weak—by doing God’s will and finding joy in obedience to Him.
