...Grace to you and peace be multiplied!
1 Peter 1:2 (WEB)
Today, Seed Basket’s devotional series, Timeless, starts a new study in 1 Peter, after having completed our study of Romans 8.
Peter’s letter is encouraging for believers of every era. God’s Word is timeless, speaking deeply to all believers, regardless of when they discover it.
Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

Peter begins with the hopeful message of Christ for believers.
Living Hope
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1:3 (WEB)
Jesus isn’t a cold, lifeless, do-nothing god. He isn’t a centuries-long dead god memorialized in stone who can’t touch you, love you, or help you. My Jesus can save your life.
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. And He is alive in the heart and mind of every believer. Not only that, but Romans 8, if you recall, reminds us that He is alive and seated at the right hand of God, making intercession for every single believer. Romans 8:34 (CSB)
“but look—I am alive forever and ever,
…the Living One. I was dead,
and I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
Revelation 1:18 (CSB)

Reserved
to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, 1 Peter 1:4 (WEB)
Is there a place setting reserved
at the table with Jesus—for you?

Believers have a known destiny with God. Just think of what that word, reserved, means.
Kept.
Held.
Prepared.
Sealed.
Just for you, and just for me! Every single true believer.
Guarded
…who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:5 (WEB)
Our salvation is guarded by God forever. This is how we know that our eternity rests secure in Him.
When afflictions rise and sorrows threaten, we are so secure because God has given us invisible sight of faith.
Our joy in that truth is unspeakable. Even when God allows such testing, we know the Spirit keeps our feet firmly on the path to our salvation.
“Do not weep…Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered…” Revelation 5:5 (CSB)

Rejoice
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials,
1 Peter 1:6 (WEB)
Through many dangers, toils and snares we have already come.
Twas grace that brought us safe thus far and grace will lead us home!1
