Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9 (WEB)
Seed Basket continues to look at the Beatitudes in Matthew 5. (WEB)
Today our focus is on the peacemakers.
Peacemaking seems to be a lost virtue, doesn’t it? Do you believe this passage concerns Christ’s desire for peace among nations? What about families and in the Church?
Of course, Jesus desires peace. But Jesus knew that peace would never be a way of life on this earth. And even though we should strive to make peace in our homes, work, the Church and in the nations, I believe Jesus had something else on His heart.

Do you know what that might be?
Jesus desires that sinners have peace with Himself, peace with God.
The redemption of sinners was God’s desire. He loves people. He wants them to be saved. Jesus gave Himself so that sinners would find peace with God and be one together with Himself and the Father.

Think back to the verse in Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news,
who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
The peacemakers are those who bring the Gospel to their world. Do you count yourself among them? I hope so.
