The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
Proverbs 1:1 (CSB)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 1:7 (CSB)
There are so many people claim to believe in Jesus and call themselves Christians. But a number of those don’t know Jesus at all. Only God knows how many are still without Christ.
There is a clear difference between committed followers and the lost world. One of the main differences is in relation to wisdom.
Godly wisdom can’t be attained without having the Spirit of God living in your heart. That is not to say that all believers will be wise.
Many people are born again but grow distant in their relationship with God. They become so assimilated to the world that you can’t really tell where they stand. They are immature in the faith, and therefore, they are unwise.
But the wisdom of this lost and ungodly world is very foolish. The wisdom of the world leads to separation from God and salvation.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God,
since it is written, He catches the wise in their craftiness
1 Corinthians 3:19 (CSB)
There is a wisdom, given by the Spirit, that guards your heart and your footsteps. If you read last week’s devotional about the life of King Solomon, you see when his life veered from Godly wisdom. He made very foolish choices. He settled for the wisdom of the world. There was a cost.
Godly wisdom is priceless. It makes us aware of what we ought to know and who we ought to follow. It shows who and what we ought to refuse to follow.
Today’s verses from Proverbs will help you have the wisdom that God supplies. Proverbs 1:1-7 (CSB)
God alone has real knowledge and truth. The wisdom of the world is self-serving and comes with a price. When God’s people remain stuck in stubborn sinful behaviors and keep God at a distance, they will find they have robbed themselves of time, joy and life.
So, do you want to know true wisdom?
It is from God that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us—
our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption—
1 Corinthians 1:30
