Here is a link to next week’s devotional series, “Footsteps of Jesus”.
Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.
Romans 12:21
Be like Jesus.
I considered calling this series Footprints of Jesus, but that suggests we follow where He has been and gone rather than recognizing that He is always with us.
Remember? He said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
But when you think of footsteps, that is an image of being actively together with us.
We will follow the steps of Jesus wherever they go.

So, with all of that explanation, here is today’s devotional from Romans 12:9-21.
I wonder if this continuing series has impressed upon you the thought that our devotion to God is shown by each step we take. Every thought, word, deed and motivation either brings Him honor or dishonor.
And think of this. If you will look at your family, and if you see strife and jealosuy, selfishness and abuse, do you know where that comes from?
We are quick to say those things come from Satan. And while they do in one sense, we allow it. If you are born again, you have a choice not to sin. The Spirit living in you is sufficient to help you avoid sin.
Again, we are talking about believers. God’s moral law is given to us.
The family is where Satan wins so many battles. The family at home and the Family of God-the Church.
Walking in step with Jesus helps you and your family walk in sincere devotion to God, leading you to honor Him and to know the joy that comes from a deep, lasting relationship with Him.
Let love be without hypocrisy.
Detest evil; cling to what is good.
Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters.
Take the lead in honoring one another.
Do not lack diligence in zeal; be fervent in the Spirit; serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.
Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.
Little footsteps follow us.
Lead them to Jesus.

Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble.
Do not be wise in your own estimation.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Give careful thought to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Friends do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath,
because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.
But if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Take Jesus everywhere you go.
