Footsteps of Jesus

You have known the Holy Scriptures since you were a child.

The Scriptures are able to make you wise.

And that wisdom leads to salvation –

through faith in Christ Jesus.

Are you one of those people who have had your heart drawn to read the Bible or at least Bible stories since you were old enough to read?

“…You must … become like little children…”

I think often we take that for granted until we look back and see the mysterious, compelling Holy Spirit alive in our early childhood.

Maybe you were a child who, despite being immature, sensed the Holy Spirit in your heart. You were growing in your faith, even if you didn’t fully realize it.

One day, whether in high school, college, or as a young adult, you finally realized it with clarity. Jesus has been with you every step of the way. He has seen your good choices, mistakes, and failures. He has been there to support you repeatedly. The one thing He has never done is abandon you or give up on you.

He isn’t surprised by you. He knew every step down every path. And He is still right here. He is working through the precious gift of the Holy Spirit.

• He helps you understand the Word of God.
• He shows you when something is off in how you conduct your life.
• He corrects you with kindness and patience, and sometimes with the discipline of a loving Father.
• He helps you face your faults that are not only offensive to others, but mostly offend the holiness of God, and the holiness that has been placed upon you when you were redeemed—the blood of Jesus covers it all.
• He teaches you how to live rightly before Him and others.

All of this comes through the Spirit inspired Word of God.

The Bible. Both Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament is still relevant and always will be. It is filled with the Gospel and every single promise made and God’s law, which helps us see our sinful hearts so that we can repent.

All Scripture is inspired by God

and is useful for teaching

and for showing people what is wrong in their lives.

It is useful for correcting faults

and teaching how to live right.

2 Timothy 3:16

Are you teaching this precious Truth to your children or any children that are in your life? They are never too little.

I’m thankful that He showed me His Word when I was so young.
