Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalm 27:7 & 8 (NLT)
I have wondered if believers who are suffering from dementia or other illnesses that rob their cognitive awareness, can still sense the Prescence of the Spirit of God.

From the outside, we often see the physical and mental ravages. To the human eye the plight of these people seems so devastating.
But God never leaves. I believe the Spirit is comforting and communing with these dear saints. They know His love never leaves. Not for one moment.
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
Do you see that?
The Spirit lives in you and me.
If you are a believer that is sufficient. The Holy Spirit is not barricaded by the illnesses of the mind.
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Look at the list below. It is not exhaustive.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.
- Neither death nor life,
- neither angels nor demons
- neither our fears for today
- nor our worries about tomorrow
- the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
- No power in the sky above or in the earth below
Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
