Here is a link to last week’s series, Soon!
The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
Exodus 15:2 (ESV)
In this final interlude before the last judgments, there will be praise to God in Heaven, including the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.
We have seen the opening of the seven seal judgments, trumpet judgments, and bowl judgments, leaving only the final set of judgments symbolically filled with God’s wrath.
Chapter fifteen merely has a description of the bowls, but we won’t leave the worshipful interlude until the next chapter.
Let’s take a look.
I saw another great and marvelous sign in the sky: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them God’s wrath is finished. I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
I saw something like a sea of glass
“Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations.
Who wouldn’t fear you, Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you only are holy.
For all the nations will come and worship before you.
For your righteous acts have been revealed.”
After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their chests. One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever. The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.
This segment also indicates that the sanctuary in heaven was filled with smoke during this time, preventing anyone from approaching God until the judgments were completed (Revelation 15:5–8).
Can I encourage you to do a couple of things this week?
First, obey Jesus’ command to share the Gospel. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news.” Isaiah 52:7
Second, would you take the time to read Exodus 15 and Deuteronomy 22? This is the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.
Spend just a few precious moments lifting your praise to God for all He has done, for you.
Next week we will finally leave the Interlude behind and begin the final steps of the tribulation.
I hope you will look forward to reading about the Second Coming of Christ Jesus as chronicled by John.
“The Lord will reign forever and ever.”
