“…the Name that is above every name…Jesus…”
How many times today will you say the name?
Jesus.
How many times will you say it in thanksgiving for the sweetest blessings, the most beautiful, created things, the dearest touch from a friend, or unexpected healing? Will you think about the gift of grace that is yours?
Jesus.
Don’t carelessly utter that precious name in frustration or use it in disdain or as a curse word.
Don’t completely forget about Him today. I know many of you won’t. Many believers still hold that name in the highest regard. Many love that name more than ever and share it in their own world.
But, if you do forget about Jesus today, think of the irony if you are a believer, caught up in this constant stream of news about the senseless and wicked murder of a fellow Christian.
The reminders of Jesus are all over the news footage of that martyred brother. His faith is being broadcast for all the world to hear. Has that testimony reminded you about your walk with God?
For this reason, God highly exalted him
and gave him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
and every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11 (CSB)
How many believers have lifted their hearts in prayer for lost people to Jesus—the One to whom the offense is truly against? Hopefully, so many believers have been inspired to pray like never before. Our world is dark and cold. They need the Light of the world. They need Jesus.
Against you—you alone—I have sinned
and done this evil in your sight.
So, you are right when you pass sentence.
you are blameless when you judge.
Psalm 51:4 (CSB)
If you are a born-again believer, may I respectfully suggest, turn off the news. At least for a moment. Find your voice to lift your heart to Jesus, the one who bled and died for all who would believe.
Share the Gospel, not politics.
And every time you say the name in the news, find at least one opportunity to say the Name,
Jesus-
