A house is built by wisdom,
and it is established by understanding;
by knowledge the rooms are filled
with every precious and beautiful treasure.
Proverbs 24:3 & 4
Christian families have so many distractions to fend off these days. Of course, electronics, sports, and secular entertainment are often the culprits that are discussed in Christian circles. And while those can be problematic areas, these are not always simply bad or wrong. Wise believing families generally know what to do to keep their families out of harm’s way.
But keeping our families safe from the allure of the world is only half of the battle.
So, what if we don’t let our kids participate in blatantly sinful entertainment or dabble in things outside the Biblical worldview?
What are we actually replacing negative influences with to help them become wise and strong and full of courage and conviction? Failing to give them the spiritual support that God intends for all believers to have will leave your children wandering without a sense of direction.
Give them the power of God’s Word.
Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 (CSB)

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (CSB)
Well Solomon had some great words of wisdom throughout Proverbs, as seen in our key verses. But I have found some other notable thoughts from Paul, Peter and none other than Jesus.
Even your smallest ones can memorize verses.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.
Galatians 5:22-23 (CSB)
…make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ
2 Peter 1:5-8
There are so many other passages just like these.
By the way, without clicking on the link first, do you recognize this one? Matthew 5:1-12 (CSB)
Treasure God’s Word. Show your family how to treasure it. Teach your babies that Jesus is first in your life so that you can have the credibility to expect the same behavior from them.
Turn my eyes
from looking at what is worthless.
give me life in your ways.
Psalm 119:37

Mankind, he has told each of you what is good
and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly,
to love faithfulness,
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
This world is getting dark and cold. People hate others for no reason. They cannot even really explain why they hate others; they just do. This is the oppression of our enemy, Satan. He has bound lost people in his grip. They can’t or won’t hear the voice of the Holy Spirit who pursues them for salvation.
Give your children the greatest gift that will not only help them be joyful and unafraid, but it will also help them share the Gospel in their world!
