“…How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Genesis 39:9 (WEB)
Tomorrow Joseph’s story continues, and as it unfolds we will see his godly character revealed. I wonder if the key verse above made you think of Psalm 51:4?

Do you recall David’s prayer of contrition after facing the Lord over his sins against Bathsheba, Uriah, and his authority as king of Israel? Initially, David’s sin appeared to be simply against them all.
But David knew the truth. All sin is first against God.
Against you, and you only, I have sinned,
and done that which is evil in your sight,
so you may be proved right when you speak,
and justified when you judge.
Psalm 51:4 (WEB)

And Joseph was simply stating what King David would say over 1,000 years later.
Read the devotional tomorrow to find out to whom Joseph was speaking, and the context.
