Turn us again, God. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
Psalm 80:3 (WEB)
Look carefully at the key verse.
Many people misread that when they just scan the scripture. They inadvertently insert the word “to” in the second position.
So, the verse is mistakenly read as, “Turn to us…”
You may think, “So what?”
Well, because a simple word can change everything.
The Psalmist was acknowledging the need for God’s merciful help in leading the unfaithful Israelites to turn back to Him.

They would never have wanted to repent due to a guilty conscience. Even after suffering for so long, their hearts were hard, and only God could help them want to turn back to Him.
People don’t pursue God first today, either. God always pursues man for salvation.
Now, believers have the New Covenant1 because of Jesus and through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The prayer is repeated several times in this passage. “Turn us, Lord.”
The prayer in this Psalm was for Israel, but it is for all who are who are separated from God.
Pray it for the Church, too, in times when we need to repent and turn back to our God.
Turn us again, God of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
Psalm 80:8
So, we will not turn away from you.
Revive us, and we will call on your name.
Turn us again, Yahweh God of Armies.
Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved.
