HABAKKUK’S STORY PART II
Here is the link from part one, Answers Please, the story of frustrated Habakkuk.
As believers one of our favorite mantras is, “…at least we can pray.” And then, when God answers our prayers the way we think is just spectacular, we love to brag on Him.
Then we all have a testimony about the goodness of God.
Of course, we all forget about that when the light seems to grow dim, and life gets disappointing or tough.
But do you know that our God is good all the time, and every choice He ever makes on our behalf is moral and just?
Even when God’s will is hard to understand and seems hard to walk through, God’s purposes don’t need our approval. More than that, we should just always glorify and thank Him for everything that He chooses.
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

So, with that, let’s look at how God chose to answer Habakkuk’s prayer.
The Lord replied,
“Look around at the nations. Look and be amazed!
For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.
I am raising up the Babylonians, a cruel and violent people.
They will march across the world and conquer other lands.
They are notorious for their cruelty and do whatever they like. Their horses are swifter than cheetahs and fiercer than wolves at dusk.
Their charioteers charge from far away. Like eagles, they swoop down to devour their prey.
“On they come, all bent on violence.
Their hordes advance like a desert wind, sweeping captives ahead of them like sand.
They scoff at kings and princes and scorn all their fortresses.
They simply pile ramps of earth against their walls and capture them!
They sweep past like the wind and are gone.
But they are deeply guilty for their own strength is their god.”
Habakkuk 1:5-11 (NLT)
Tomorrow we will take a look at part three of this compelling story. Maybe you will start to see the beauty of God’s loving plan as it unfolds. God’s grace is a glorious mystery to human hearts.
