Do something this week, as a believer.
Be an intentional listener. Not judgmental. But for the purpose of watching where God’s Spirit is at work. Join Him there if He invites you.
Prepare your heart for that work. Arm yourself. First with prayer. Humble yourself to know the holiness of God for your own heart. (Matthew 6:9).
Ask the Spirit to make you sensitive to the needs of others around you and to use you this week. Read God’s Word and be familiar with passages on fear, doubt, trust and faith. And able to share the Gospel.
Specifically, my heart is sensitive to people who are struggling with fear because I can relate to fear and worry. As a believer, I sometimes take my eyes off the dear promises of Jesus, losing sight of His faithfulness (Psalm 118:4). Sometimes I become overwhelmed by the fright of living in this depraved world, or I have worries for my family, health, or other concerns.
It is far too easy to lose our footing as believers when we look at the rage of the storm instead of the strength of our God. (Psalm 118:8)
But there is a promise from Jesus that every believer must never lose sight of.
I hope that you will recall it every time that you feel afraid.
“I Am with you always…”
Matthew 28:20
The Holy Spirit’s words to us that should quench the miserable, fearful stings are these-
…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5
How beautiful are the feet…
