Here is a link to last week’s series, A Light for My Path.
I discovered something this week that surprised me. Many believers are actively engaged in memorizing scripture. As I have read polls and historical commentaries, it is clear that there are many devoted believers who still hide God’s Word in their hearts.
I am so glad that Seed Basket readers can be counted among the faithful who have made the commitment to glorify God in this way.
I have learned that throughout Christian history, many missionaries and pastors have memorized the entire Bible—and that without the availability of technology.
There are churches that sponsor youth Bible memory camps and classes and small groups across the world that lead initiatives that promote scripture memory.

But my favorite story about memorizing scripture this week came from a pastor in my church. He mentioned that a Sunday School class of two-year-olds learned all of Psalm One when he was a young dad.
I would have loved to hear those tiny voices reciting that meaningful Psalm and see how their lives have progressed nearly twenty years later. What a great start those tender lives received from loving parents.
There are many excellent reasons to continue this endeavor. Glorifying God tops the list, along with the joy of sharing spiritual unity with, as yet, unknown brothers and sisters in faith.
Additionally, sharing the Gospel with clarity remains a great reason to let God’s Word emanate from our souls.
With that, let’s take a look at the next two verses from Romans 8.

(9) But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
(10) And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin,
but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:9 & 10
