Hosana
How often have we “heard” praise in that single word?
But do you know what it means—really?
It means, God, we beg You to save us. (Psalm 118:25)
And that is why Jesus came.
The people completely missed it, didn’t they?
They gathered to honor Him with palm branches because they thought He had come to save them from the Roman Empire.
Very few people in the crowd that day truly saw the Messiah. They saw an earthly king coming with an earthly kingdom.
If only they had known in their hearts what Zechariah had prophesied so long ago.
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
he is righteous and victorious,
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9

This was their King. And they were the people of the prophecy. Can you imagine if that had been you?
If you had been a faithful follower and had recognized the fulfillment of the prophecy in your lifetime—Jesus in your very midst—your expression of Hosanna on that day would have been very different.
Yes, it would have been a plea for salvation. But it would have been mingled with pure praise and radiant love for your Messiah.
You would have joined in the song of the little children who praised Him on that day. (Matthew 21:16)

Then the crowds who went ahead of him and those who followed shouted: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!
Matthew 21:9
Well, today, and every day, believers worldwide can honor our Savior with true adoration for all that He has done. We don’t have to beg—Hosanna. Just humbly receive the gift of redemption and share the Good News.
And one day we will all join to praise Him together.

After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:
Salvation belongs to our God,
who is seated on the throne,
and to the Lamb!
Revelation 7:9-10
Share the Good News in your world!
