“Lift up your eyes on high,
and see who has created these,
who brings out their army by number.
He calls them all by name.
By the greatness of his might,
and because he is strong in power,
not one is missing.“
Isaiah 40:26 (NASB)
“This is my Father’s world! He shines in all that’s fair…”1

Did you know the stars sing songs? Both Christian and secular scientists agree about this mysterious wonder. Every stellar song is known only by the great creator, God. Of course, scientists use scientific reasoning to explain this wonderful miracle. But what’s wrong with that? After all, God created science!
Now, just to be clear, many Bible scholars believe that Job 38:7 and other verses like it are meant to symbolize angels praising God. But science has proven that stars make a noise that is described as harmonious music.
Psalm 148 declares that all creation praises God. That’s just another demonstration of God’s love for everything and everyone. He easily could have spoken everything into a grand existence but with a clinical, sameness. Everything He does is with love and personal artistry.
Today’s key verse reminds us that God didn’t just create the stars and that was that. God created the stars, named them and apparently, He gave them a song.
The night sky certainly can stir our souls to love and praise our Lord.
Another passage where stars are mentioned is 1 Corinthians 15:41. We read that the sun has one kind of beauty, and the moon and the stars have their own magnificent beauty. The stars even have a distinct brightness from each other.
Many believers are unaware how the Bible gives reference to specific stars and constellations. You can find these mentioned in the Old Testament books of Job and the Psalms and in the prophecy of Amos 5:8. This is where we read about Pleiades and Orion. Be sure to click each link. Read each passage in context. You can also do a search to see stars in general (51 verses about stars) mentioned throughout the Bible. Do a search on Ursa Major in scripture. See what you will find.
Now, believers should never worship creation itself. Deuteronomy 4:19. Lost people sometimes offer praise to mother earth. That is a wicked and misguided notion. While believers are certainly responsible for taking care of the world that God created, we are never to worship the stars, moon, earth or any other created thing. Our worship is reserved for our Creator alone. Isaiah 40:18-20

We are drawn to praise our great Lord when we read Psalms 8:3 and 19:1. The heavens declare the glory of God.
Take time to admire the beauty of the stars. Either make it a personal moment just between yourself and the Lord, or better yet, share such a moment with your spouse, your babies, or someone who just needs a reminder, that God is so great and so good. He loves us!! He gave us His beautiful creation to enjoy. We should include those things in grateful prayers of thanks.
Job 38 is an inspiring passage to read. Although this message from God was meant for Job, at the time, we can apply the richness of its truth in our lives. I hope you will take the time to read this passage.
“Men of Science, Men of God” by Henry M. Morris, is a great resource. The book is a snapshot about the faith and lives of 101 scientists throughout the ages. They were intellectuals that also believed in God. The research and knowledge of Dr. Morris never replaced his love for God.
The book about these 101 scientists includes such men as Kepler, Sir Isaac Newton, Carver, Pascal, Da Vinci, Galileo, Morse, and more. The book, first printed in 1982, is still available through secondhand resources, though out of print. I easily obtained two copies.
Although written by a scholar, “Men of Science Men of God”, can be easy enough for even middle schoolers to read. I recommend this little book for every Christian, but especially for parents.
The flame of faith of these scientists will never burn out. Their God-given knowledge and discoveries are testimonies to the goodness of our great Creator!2
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
consider all the works thy hands hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed;3
