The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”

EVERYTHING!

In the story about Jesus and the woman at the well, (John 4) have you ever wondered how the conversation with Jesus, really caught her heart? Try to put yourself in her place. She was lost, sinful and miserable. The knowledge she had about God was purely religious and cultural. Nothing in her culture or religious life made her feel included.
I hope that you have read the story so you can see, that as a Samaritan, she was absolutely hated by the Jews. She was a mixed-race woman with pagan inclinations and had a rough past and present.
And yet, here was Jesus, talking to her. A Samaritan. A sinner. A woman. Three strikes. But with Jesus, not counted out.

Jesus didn’t magically save her soul. He asked her for a drink of water. She must have been mystified. Her response reveals that.
A Jewish man asking her for water.
So, Jesus told her who He was. John 4:10. He told her plainly that He is the Messiah. No tricks or religious stuffiness, just the truth.
Jesus offered her living water that would end her spiritual thirst forever. He identified the need in her heart.
She admitted her sinful state. She left some of it out. But Jesus knew it all.
The woman thought that He may be just a good prophet. Then, He told her everything she had ever done. It took a minute for her to get it. But the Spirit of God spoke to her heart, and she believed. She believed He was Messiah, and He loved her.
Now the next part of the story leads this woman back to where she came from, joyfully telling everyone within earshot, “Come meet a man who told me everything I ever did.” John 4:28-30.
Of course, some of the people were curious. But just because the woman told them this wild story was not enough to fully convince them that the Messiah was in their midst. They believed enough to go see for themselves, but when they saw and heard Jesus, they really believed, too.
Just as with the woman at the well, the only way people are drawn to faith is through Jesus, John 4:39-42 “…We no longer believe just because of what you said, now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

You see, Jesus knew the woman would be at Jacob’s well. He knew where the men were who were as guilty as she was. As far as we know, they remained impenitent.
He knew the people in her town of Sychar. He knew which ones had soft hearts and a deep need of the Savior who offered forgiveness for sin.
Jesus knew where they all would be, and He stepped into their world. He changed everything.
He knows your everything, too. He wants you to lay it all down at His feet. But no matter what you decide He loves You. He wants you to receive His gift of eternal life. It’s really that simple. You don’t have to get better first. There’s nothing to do except believe and turn away from your sinful ways. Salvation is immediate. Change and getting sinful habits out of our lives may take days or years. The Spirit will help you to grow in your faith.
If you have assurance of your salvation, but have neglected your relationship with Jesus, please don’t wait to repent of that neglect.
His grace and mercy deserve our devotion.
Satan is not going to make it easy on you to spend time with the Lord. Our own hearts are tempted to ignore those moments. You have to be determined that nothing will interfere with your time with Him.
If you are one of His faithful followers who gives everything about your life to Him, keep on going! One foot in front of the other.
Stay vigilant to help others. Stay faithful to prayer. That’s your time with Jesus. Why would you avoid talking to the Savior of the world? His Word says that your prayers are like incense to Him. Revelation 5:8
The Bible tells us that if we search for God earnestly, we will find Him. Jeremiah 29:13
Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ. There is no other way to have peace with God.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
John 14:6
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”
Acts 4:12
