I will be the same until your old age,
and I will bear you up when you turn gray.
I have made you, and I will carry you.
I will bear and rescue you.
Isaiah 46:4 CSB
In our lives, we experience a struggle to comprehend time and aging.
This strange feeling happens for some people as our bodies age, but in our spirits we still feel young.
It is a blessing from God to embrace our older age. It is also a blessing to keep our youthful spiritual heart at the same time.
Not that our physical life is easy, because old age can be hard.
But loving Jesus …
He satisfies you…your youth is renewed like the eagle. Psalm 103:5
Remember the recurring line in those cloying romantic comedies? The guy tells his aging wife that she will always be 29 to him.
He means well, but he’s fibbing.

He should tell her that her beauty and wisdom at 61 are magnificent, and he loves watching her thrive. That would be truthful and would mean so much to a godly woman.
I know this because my husband, who truly loves me, tells me things like that often.

Lies about old age are not only sold to us in movies. These lies are rehearsed in our daily lives. It has become natural for women to seriously joke about only being 29.
Everyone knows that ship sailed years before. Those women are struggling to face reality and are only hurting themselves.
Why would anyone desperately want to hang on to superficial immaturity?
Becoming 61 has brought me inexpressible joy and wonder—not perfection, nor heroic accomplishments.
Aging has taught me to embrace self-sacrifice instead of avoiding it.
I’m not a martyr, but I enjoy loving the life God gave me. Honoring Him brings me joy, and loving others connects me to my Savior.
Lying about our age doesn’t change the inevitable. Life speeds by quickly. It becomes alarming when we realize we have less time in front of us than we have already lived.
Regret. What a waste of precious moments!
When I was 29, I didn’t understand the joy that comes with age.
This joy persists even during tough times. Each step God has planned for me has helped me keep growing.
Aging is not the end for a Christian.
Therefore, we do not give up.
Even though our outer person is being destroyed,
our inner person is being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16
If you feel the loss of physical youth but still have a vibrant spirit, it’s time to take action.
Reach out to introduce Jesus where He’s needed, whether in your community or within your own family.
Get enthusiastic about partnering with the Savior and thank Him daily for nurturing your youthful spiritual heart.
Gray hair is a glorious crown;
it is found in the ways of righteousness.
Proverbs 16:31
It doesn’t matter if you have gray hair. It doesn’t matter if you have old age tremors or rickety knees. It doesn’t matter if you groan every time you get out of bed. Just get up. Keep moving.
Even if you have limited physical mobility, as a child of God, you have a purpose.
Show this world how feeling physically limited can’t rob your spiritual youth.
Love Jesus and His Word. Let the Holy Spirit, who lives in your heart, give you wisdom and help you grow!
Let a spirit of joy, strength and vitality be found in your speech, attitude, activities, and in your heart.
Below are some passages that will encourage you. Let God’s Word fully renew a sense of purpose inside you.
Even while I am old and gray,
God, do not abandon me,
while I proclaim your power
to another generation,
your strength to all who are to come. Psalm 71:18
Wisdom is found with the elderly, and understanding comes with long life. Job 12:12
Psalm 71:9 Titus 2:2 Psalm 37:25 Titus 2:3
