A lot of people struggle with doubt about their faith. They wonder if it is real or if they can lose the grace that they had found. So many questions fill our hearts, especially when we go through hardship.
But Jesus gave a comforting answer, not only to validate our faith, but to help us measure our growth. Often that is the real issue.
We were designed to bring glory to God. If our lives fall short of that, then we need to seek help from the Spirit, the Word and a godly pastor or teacher.
“In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so, you will be my disciples.”
John 15:8
Look at Jesus’ encouraging words to the disciples. These words are for all believers.
Even as the Father has loved me, I also have LOVED YOU
-Remain in My love.
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”
John 15:9 & 10
Jesus loves us like God loves Him. That is almost incomprehensible, unless you obey the rest of the verse. Keep His commands. Don’t follow the world view. Remain in Him. You can do that by never disregarding your relationship with Him.
Jesus gives us all the resolve to thrive in His love and live — the Vine and the branches — when we remain in His love and keep His commandments.
This does not mean to merely rest in the Christian faith and wait for Heaven to come.
Those who trust Jesus will live fruitful Christian lives and follow the teachings of Christ.
Loving other believers is part of Christs’ command. (1 John 4:20 & 21) You must do that just as Jesus loved you.
Sometimes that may require a high cost or courage you are not prepared for. It demands sound knowledge of God’s Word, spiritual wisdom, and selflessness.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. I command these things to you, that you may love one another.”
John 15: 12-14
