He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalm 40:2
Seed Basket Devotional begins a new series today. The stories are from the Master’s seed basket-the parables of Jesus.
Jesus used ordinary things from daily living to illustrate Spiritual truth. Those who had faith and believed received more understanding.
Those who remained resolute in their rejection of Christ could not perceive the lessons the Savior taught. Jesus used these wonderfully engaging stories to help bring His kingdom and God’s plan into view for common people. There were lessons on topics such as redemption, discipleship, faithfulness, mercy, and more.
Shifting Sand

Today’s parable is familiar to many people. It is the contrast between God’s children who intentionally and persistently build their faith in Christ and those who neglect their growth in Christ.
Even though we may experience many hardships in our walk, those who deepen their relationship with God will find peace and joy that only comes from this sure foundation.
But those who neglect their spiritual growth and push the Spirit away will not be able to withstand the tragedies and difficulties of this life.

Take a look.
“Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them,
I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.
Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn’t do them
will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it fell—and its fall was great.“
Matthew 7:24-27
Of course, before you can begin to build upon the foundation of Christ, you must first accept His invitation to “Come…take…learn…” (Matthew 11:28-30)
A Mighty Fortress

When you accept that tender invitation, only then can you face life’s storms with peace and grace. You can fully rest all of your life on that strong and mighty Rock.
