On Wednesdays, Seed Basket has begun a study on the kings of Israel. The first story continues this week with King Saul, whose story has a tragic end.
The tragedy of his reign was caused by his disobedience, pride and involvement in the occult.
Some Bible scholars have wondered about Saul’s eternal security. But we should not make that judgement. Only God knows the condition of someone’s heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)
As believers, we should be moved by this timeless story to examine our own lives rather than focusing on the ancient king’s redemption.
Peace with God
Even if you are certain about your salvation, it is important to confess your daily sin and repent for your failures as a believer.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
While your eternal security can never be lost, your personal relationship with God can be broken until you make things right with Him. Sin always separates us from God.
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:2
