Disciples who had witnessed awesome miracles while they walked with Jesus, had suddenly felt their faith just vanish. The turbulent sea winds threatened their lives.
They cried out to the Master and He rescued them.
The men marveled, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Matthew 8:27
The disciples were amazed, but their faith was still small, even after the winds submitted to their Creator.
Hebrews, once held in bondage, were freed by the miraculous and merciful hand of the Lord.
The treacherous Egyptian Pharoah was relentless in his pursuit.
The fearful Hebrews stood on the shores of freedom, ready to give up and run back to hateful hands of Pharoah.
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
Exodus 14:21
One of the most awesome displays of God’s power is found in the wind. The tender goodness of God can subdue the winds and waves in our heart, too.
Jesus promised never to leave us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)
Never forget this truth:
Be still, my soul! the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he lived below.1
