Philippians 2:5
Often, believers get into unintentional ruts called negativity. This is a dangerous sin for the Church. Negativity leads to disunity among believers.
We must be on guard, and we can do that by listening to the voice of our Teacher, the Holy Spirit. He is our Friend who leads us away from sin when we are faithful to God’s Word.
Our spirit of negativity can creep in at any time. We find ourselves pondering over worthless words that can distort reality. This pervasive sin can lead us into gossip, complaining and even dishonesty.
A negative spirit can infiltrate our heart and mind and cause us to harm others.
The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to pen the letter to the Church at Philippi, concerning this sin.
Philippi was known primarily for their faithful generosity and a spirit of warmth and joy.
Paul prayed that they would remain unified through Christ Jesus. He gave them this advice:
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
