This week we will focus on Romans 8:30-33.
Here is a link to last week’s series, A Light for My Path.
Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Romans 8:30
- Predestined
- Called
- Justified
- Glorified
What does all of that mean? Well, let’s take a look.

Predestined
To be predestined by God simply means that there are certain people that God chose from the very beginning who would be saved. (Ephesians 4:1-5)
For more clarity on the doctrine of predestination here is a link from a reliable resource. What is predestination?1
Nothing can happen that can cause the elect to be snatched away from Christ. (John 10)
But God never defies His own character. The Bible tells us that He is compassionate, not willing for anyone to be lost. (John 3:17)
That is why we are responsible to share the Gospel with others in our world. God knows the elect. We do not. We must obey Christ’s command to bring the Gospel to the ends of the Earth.

Called
God predestined us, and He made a divine plan to call us to Himself for salvation. For those who are saved, we respond to the Spirit by faith and we “hear” that call. Then we follow Him by faith believing. (2 Timothy 1:9)
Justified
To be justified is to be declared righteous by God despite being sinners. Justification happened in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. He bore the penalty for sin as our substitute. (Romans 3:21-26)
But being justified doesn’t make us holy. We are made holy by means of sanctification. This means that we begin to display more godly attributes and look less like the world.
That is a lifelong process for the believer, but one that should be evident as we grow in Christ. (Hebrews 10:10); (Philippians 1:6)
Glorified
One day the Lord Jesus will call His people home to be with Him forever. In a single moment, at the rapture, we will receive our sinless, holy bodies. We will no longer be subject to sin and death. (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
After the rapture, we will stand before Jesus at the Bema, the Judgement seat of Christ, where we will be rewarded for our good works on Earth.
Here, we won’t be judged for sin. Rather, we will give an account of what we have done for Jesus. Jesus already paid the price for sin. If you are standing at the Bema, you will have no fear of being condemned. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Can you imagine a more wonderful life than the one provided for the sons and daughters of God? Sure, it is filled with hardship. But that’s nothing compared to the joy of knowing what He has done to redeem us and make us free.
Here is the remaining passage in Romans 8 to memorize for this week. Please share these verses in your world. People need the hope of Christ deeply planted in their hearts and minds.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
Romans 8:31-33
