Philippians 4:23
Often, well-meaning believers claim bits and pieces of scripture as their inspiration. But without context we can miss a vibrant truth.
One commonly used passage is Philippians 4:13. If you don’t know the back story about this scripture you may not have considered its full depth.
Believers can’t find contentment within themselves; indeed, we can do nothing without the power of Christ Jesus. He alone is our strength.
Paul had suffered greatly. He had been imprisoned, alone, betrayed and ill. But Paul reveals, in the preceding verses, just what it would take for believers to victoriously proclaim verse 13.

Paul was inpsired by the Spirit of God. And he had the real life experience to back up his claim.
So, take another look at this incredible truth in context. First read Philippians 4:6-12
Do you still want to claim this verse for yourself? I hope so.
Then you can triumphantly claim:
“I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength!”
