Memory verses for this week – Matthew 5:14-16
Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
Daniel 12:3
Aren’t you just captivated by wonder every time you look up into the star-filled night sky? The magnificence won’t let you easily look away from the glimmering display.
All of God’s creation glorifies Him perfectly, except mankind. That is a sorrowful thing because God loved us more than anything else that He created. Read about how much God loved us in (Genesis 1:26-28) (Romans 8:37-39) and of course, don’t forget about (John 3:16-17)
But there are some people who have glorified Him whole-heartedly with their lives. They are so drawn to loving God that they radiate with His splendor. They display His attributes as part of their worship to Him. It is God’s glory that shines through His people -just like the starry night sky.
One night soon, why not take the opportunity to look up at that dark canvas covered with thousands of brilliant lights. Let it be a reminder to be like the stars and not the surrounding darkness.
Daniel was an Old Testament believer who resembled the shining stars. His whole life was lived with faith, courage and obedience from his youth until his death at an old age. Look what the angel Michael told him in a message from the Lord God.
“…He said, “Don’t be afraid, you who are treasured by God. Peace to you; be very strong…”
Daniel 10:18 – 19
The apostle Paul reminds us that God’s Spirit empowers believers, even though our lives are imperfect.
…For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus. Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:6-7
In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus revealed how others can be drawn to the Light of God for salvation.
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.“
