Here is an audio link for today’s post.
The memory verse for today will be revealed at the end of this post. Keep reading.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
Isaiah 26:3 & 4

Perfect peace seems so elusive doesn’t’ it? Even if we are not in the middle of grief, fear or sorrow in this moment, we know that these troubles are sure to come-eventually.
But even when life is not dark and gloomy, just getting through the chaos of each day can be a challenge.
Let’s start by putting the passage from Isaiah 26 into context. The events described in Isaiah 26 have not happened yet.
This passage is about the millennial reign of Jesus. It is a time when Israel will finally have the perfect peace described in verse 3. All of Israel’s enemies will have been vanquished by Jesus.
But believers today can cling to this beautiful passage, too. Why? Because God’s great love is a promise of His abiding peace and care for all of His children.
Even though we have serious troubles in this world, just knowing that the Spirit of God is walking with us can make all the difference.
Lost people don’t understand this. But true believers do.
This is not meant to diminish grief or pain. It’s about putting it into perspective. From my own experience, there have been difficult days that I would have preferred to avoid.

But on the other hand, each one has led me to a closer relationship with God. I have seen the great and small things that He has done for me.
So which experience would I have pushed away? Cancer? Grief over loss? An unprovoked act of violence against me?
I don’t even know the full details of how God used each hard moment for my good. But I know that He never harms me. He has never taken His eyes off me.
Would the loss of just one of these events have cost me opportunities of serving others? Would I have missed a chance to share the Gospel?
So, which sorrow would I deny and risk missing a closer walk with my Savior?
Not a single one.
How can believers claim this promise of abiding peace? Scripture tells us how.
For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:6

Believers who disregard their walk with God can’t enjoy this promise of peace. Distance can lure believers into habitual sin. It can lull us toward the world. And distance will shut down your prayer life.
Jesus told His disciples to expect burdens, fears and even persecution and death.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

Many false teachers promote the belief that because we belong to Jesus, the ease and riches of this world can be ours. But they tie our peace and prosperity to the money we give to their cause or the good deeds we perform.
That is a lie. The true blessing of peace for believers comes from glorifying God. We glorify Him when we obey Him and share His Gospel. Blessings are found in fellowship, worship and loving others as Jesus did.
And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
Isaiah 32:17
